We were delighted to welcome Bishop Ray Browne to Lissivigeen on Wednesday 23rd Sept. The purpose of the visit was to launch the new religious programme for primary schools "Grow in Love".
The book is currently being used in Junior and Senior Infants and will be in all classes in the next 3 years. The Bishop led a prayer service for the Junior side of the school and 6th class helped with the singing.
It was a lovely occasion for the school and we would like to thank the parents and grandparents who came along to clelbrate with us. Also thanks to the teachers for all their co-operation.
During our first week back to school after the summer holidays we had a very special visitor to the school. Rita Quirke who is related to one of our pupils, called with her two olympic medals which she won for Kayaking at the Special Olympics in Los Angeles 2015.
Rita visited a number of classrooms and spoke to the children about all the training and committment required to be a successful athlete. She also showed her medals to everyone.
Rita is an inspirational person and she made a huge impession on all the children and staff. We would like to thank her for taking the time to visit us.
